The ERNIEs Australia Day Front Yard Ultra

A backyard ultra, flipped — everyone finishes together on the last lap.

Tuesday 26 January 2027 · Woolcock Park, Red Hill

Based on the well-known backyard ultra format, the Australia Day Front Yard Ultra flips the script: instead of runners getting eliminated one by one, everyone picks their own distance up front — and everyone crosses the finish line together on the last lap.

Each "Yard" is a lap of our 6.7km course through Ashgrove and Red Hill, starting and finishing at Woolcock Park, Red Hill. Choose 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, or 7.5 Yards when you sign up — whatever suits your morning (or night).

At the end of every Yard there's a spread of Aussie treats — Lamingtons, Tim Tams — building up to a classic Aussie BBQ at the end. It's Australia Day after all!
